Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics (the company) is involved with the collection, transportation and distribution of customer goods, products, and materials to and from Eastern European companies.
The company recognises the real and potential impact that its activities have on the local, regional, and global environment through transportation emissions and by-products and the need to keep these activities under constant control and review.
Although we are a provider of services, we are concerned that our suppliers are as “green” as possible and are aware that these services have a serious impact on Climate change.
To this end, we have challenged our business to minimise its impact on the environment to counteract our carbon footprint in the transport industry.
Organisation
- The company will operate responsibly with all third parties to ensure minimal environmental impact.
- The Managing Director of the company is responsible for effectively implementing any environmentally sustainable concept by ensuring the necessary resources are provided.
- The company believes that responsibility for the protection of the environment lies with all employees.
- Management will ensure that this mission statement is communicated to all staff. Employees will be encouraged to feel a personal responsibility for helping to ensure compliance with the environmental/green concept and will thereby be given the opportunity to participate in environmental protection themselves.
- The company will introduce a system of environmental best practice to minimise internal waste.
- We’re already acting responsibly but there’s more to do. Change isn’t always about a radical shift in focus and direction. It can be about realigning policy or working practices to benefit customers and adjust to changing circumstances.
Activities
- The company will comply with all legislative requirements with regard to emissions.
- The company will continue to develop its activities which will rely on best available technology, not entailing excessive costs, based on the efficient use of resources and the reduction of waste.
- We expect all our suppliers to take the shortest routes possible, thus reducing fuel emissions and carbon footprint.
- We book the right size vehicle for the load, reducing unnecessary space, cost for the customer and again fuel emissions.
- We maximize return trips again ensuring fuel emissions and carbon footprints are kept to a minimum.
- Wherever possible we book suppliers who we know have modern, fuel efficient, emission friendly vehicles.
- The company will seek to improve its efficiency in the use of electricity at The Printworks offices
