Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics is involved with the collection, transportation and distribution of customer goods, products, and materials to Eastern European companies.
The company recognises the real and potential impact that its activities have on the local, regional, and· global environment through transportation emissions and byproducts and the need to keep these activities under constant control and review.
To this end Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics undertakes to achieve the following objectives:
Organisation
- Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics will operate an environmental management system [EMS] which is endorsed by the Management.
- The Managing Director of Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics is responsible for the effective implementation of this policy and for ensuring the necessary resources are provided for its implementation.
- The implementation of EMS throughout the company will be the responsibility of all nominated managers of the business.
- Management will ensure that the policy is communicated to all staff. Employees will be encouraged to feel a personal responsibility for helping to ensure compliance with the environmental policy and will thereby be given the opportunity to participate in environmental protection.
- The company will provide adequate and ongoing environmental training for staff throughout the organisation in order to achieve continued environmental improvement.
Activities
- Whittle Eastern Europe will comply with all legislative requirements with regard to emissions.
- The company will continue to develop its activities which will rely on best available technology, not entailing excessive costs, based on the efficient use of resources and the reduction of waste.
- The company will develop and maintain waste reduction programmes.
- The company will seek to improve its efficiency in the use of energy and related materials.
Products
- Whittle Eastern Europe Logistics will work towards continual improvement in terms of the environmental impact that its activities will have with national and international legislative moves towards increased producer responsibility.
- Development and adherence to this company policy forms the central core of the Whittles Eastern Europe Logistics’ EMS. The policy is the driver for implementing and improving the company’s environmental performance and legislative compliance. It establishes a sense of direction and sets goals for the level of overall environmental responsibility and performance required of the company, against which all subsequent actions will be judged.
