Environmental Responsibility
- Whittles is committed to continuously improving its environmental performance. Environmental protection is given equal importance to other key business objectives. Whilst our office environment gives us limited scope for improvement, we believe it is essential that the environment is impacted as little as possible when planning our business activities.
- The environmental projects and improvements that have taken place in 2011 are:
- Non-recycled waste
In 2010 we agreed to begin reporting non-recycled waste as a percentage of all waste produced. We set a target to reduce this by 10% of the 2010 baseline by 2013. Through our education and segregation programmes we continue to reduce the amount of non-recycled waste sent to landfill and we continue to explore new waste disposal routes.
- Non-recycled waste
- The company chose premises deliberately located in a designated business park in order to place as little strain as possible on the surrounding area.
- We implement internal measures in order to minimise the environmental impact of our activities, reducing waste as far as possible specifically with regard to recycling paper, plastic, metal, and toner cartridges.
- We pay particular attention to external environmental matters including optimal transport planning to reduce empty mileage.
Sustainable Economic Activity
The senior management of Whittles believe that sustainable economic activity means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Our business continues to grow but we are committed to this growth in line with our social, environmental, and economic goals as mentioned above.
